Swimming & Walking Options
Bitter Springs – A tranquil, shaded thermal stream ideal for gentle floating and swimming. The water is consistently warm (around 34°C / 93°F), making it perfect year-round. A wooden boardwalk runs along the stream, allowing easy access and a short scenic walk.
Mataranka Thermal Pools – Just a few minutes from Bitter Springs, these pools offer a more traditional swimming area surrounded by palm-lined lawns. The main pool is excellent for wading, swimming, or simply relaxing in the warm water.
Walking Trails – There are short walking tracks through paperbark and pandanus forest along the stream, giving you a chance to spot local wildlife, including freshwater turtles and colourful birds.
